Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his family member had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.
"The police had not responded by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining the police response of the events.
