Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serve.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
